چکیده

This paper presents a novel methodology for quality evaluation of streaming video data services. The methodology requires no reference and it predicts subjective experience of the video quality. The predictions are based on a nonlinear mapping between objective technical metrics collected by the user equipment and subjective scores given by human evaluators. The objective metrics may be taken from various levels of the protocol stack. In the current implementation, the nonlinear mapping is accomplished through a neural network. The performance of the methodology is tested using data UDP streaming video services over LTE (4G) and HSPA (3G). The agreement between the predictions and subjective quality evaluation scores is excellent.

The Feedback Based Mechanism for Video Streaming Over Multipath Ad Hoc Networks

Ad hoc networks are multi-hop wireless networks without a pre-installed infrastructure. Such networks are widely used in military applications and in emergency situations as they permit the establishment of a communication network at very short notice with a very low cost. Video is very sensitive for packet loss and wireless ad-hoc networks are error prone due to node mobility and weak links. H...

Reliable Video Streaming over mmWave with Multi Connectivity and Network Coding

The next generation of multimedia applications will require the telecommunication networks to support a higher bitrate than today, in order to deliver virtual reality and ultrahigh quality video content to the users. Most of the video content will be accessed from mobile devices, prompting the provision of very high data rates by next generation (5G) cellular networks. A possible enabler in thi...
